Report on the Knight Investiture

The Hungarian Chapter of the "Sovereign Order of Saint John of Jerusalem, Knights of Malta, Federation of Autonomous Priories" organised its second spectacular Knight Ceremony on the 20 th November 2004, in Budapest / Hungary at the Government Residency.

On this particular occasion numerous high-ranking leaders of international and national organisations from Angola, Hungary, Italy, the Netherlands, and Romania were conferred Knight or Dame of Malta by His Beatitude Dom Lorenzo O.S.B. - the Regent of the "Sovereign Order of Saint John of Jerusalem, Knights of Malta, Federation of Autonomous Priories", Patriarch and Primate Metropolitan of the American Orthodox Catholic Church, Jurisdiction of New York.

The following Postulants were conferred to Dame or Knight of Malta during the ceremony

On the Knight Ceremony and during all official programs the following high-ranking personalities supported and stood by the Regent of the Order

  • H.R.H. Prince Michael James Alexander STEWART Count of Albany (SCO) - Head of the Royal House of Stewart, President of the European Council of Princes, Patron and Protector of the Hungarian Imperial Order the Dragon
  • His Excellency Prof. José Manuel Costa Da Veiga COSMELLI (POR) - Prime Minister of the Knight Order, deputy of the Regent
  • His Excellency Prof. George POPPER (HUN) - Governor of the Knight Order, Grand Cross of Knight of Malta
  • His Excellency Dr. Giuseppe MORABITO (ITA) - Minister of the Order, Representative of PRO-DEO University
  • His Excellency Dr. Eric Van de WALL (NED) - Minister of the Order

Awards and Nominations of great significance

  • Dr. Erik GALOVTSIK (HUN) - colonel, Director of the Government Guest Houses was handed over a certificate of "Mention of Honour" for his constant professional support to the Knight Order by the Regent.
  • Sir György KISS (HUN), colonel and Sir László KOVÁCS (HUN), colonel were elected and appointed by His Beatitude Dom Lorenzo O.S.B. for the duty of serving in The Honour Guard Corps of the Regent and were bounded with all the Obligations pertaining to said duty and were bestowed upon all the corresponding honours, rights and dignity.

At the end of the ceremony the present officials, Knights and Dames commemorated the deceased Knights.

Sir Anthony Demetrius BROWN (USA) - Honorary Member of IBSSA and Sir Alexandr CACH (CZE) - Country Representative of IBSSA for the Czech Republic flew from Chicago to Zlin and from Zlin they were on their way to Budapest by jeep in order to attend the Knight Investiture, when a big storm and snowing started in the Czech forests causing terrible damages on the roads. Gentlemanly, like real knights, they stopped to help and rescue those drivers, who were stuck in the snow!

On the very same day - but prior to the Knight Investiture - "Pro Deo" University (seated in New York) organised a Doctoral Ceremony. On this particular occasion numerous high-ranking personalities, leaders of national organisations and also some IBSSA members were conferred Doctoral Degrees. The Ceremony took place at the Government Residency as well and started at 1.00 PM with the presence of the following officials
